Learn to manage your projects with confidence from the experts at Northern Arizona University’s Computer Training Center.  You will learn hands-on at your individually assigned computer why MS Project is the world’s most popular project management software and receive a full edition licensed copy of MS Project Standard 2003 to take home from the Introduction to MS Project workshop.

If you're a manager or a planner, you will learn to use the powerful tools in Microsoft Project to track schedules and tasks, manage resources, and report project information easily and efficiently. And, our expert planner will link the software to the ins and outs of city/town and tribal planning.

Topics Include: MS Project fundamentals, developing a project planning process, defining project information, linking tasks, understanding critical path, modifying task relationships, working with task constraints, entering and assigning resources, creating and assigning calendars, working with project costs, resolving time restrictions and resource conflicts, working with views and generating project reports, and sorting/filtering project data.

Intended for the novice grant writer seeking a thorough introduction and for the experienced grant writer looking for a refresher course that will strengthen their grant acquisition skills. People in related project/program management, planners and community leadership roles can also benefit from taking this course.

Develop your project for funding with confidence.  This interactive workshop begins with project development skills including: identification of appropriate strategies; understanding and utilization of existing resources; identification of potential partners; determination of realistic project outcomes, development of objectives and action steps, calculation of project costs; and development of a measurable evaluation plan.

Your well structured project is then oriented toward grant writing which includes the important factors and specific essential steps of: learning about sources of grant funding; researching the grants market; pinpointing sources of grant support; writing and submitting your proposal, follow-up; review and evaluation; and continued grant support.

Topics Include:

  • Project Development

  • Guidelines for Applying for a Government Grant

  • 12 Steps to Grant Success
