Members of
the
Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation
are Yavapai and Apache peoples. The reservation occupies a rectangular
shaped piece of land, measuring four miles east-to-west and 10 miles
north-to-south. Located in northeastern Maricopa County, the
reservation is bisected by the southerly flowing
Verde River.
It is bounded by the incorporated development of
Fountain Hills
and the
McDowell
Mountain Regional Park to the west, the town of Rio Verde to
the northeast, the
Tonto National
Forest, the
Goldfield Ranch
to the east, and the
Salt River
Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to the south.

Casino
The
Fort McDowell
Casino is a 148,000 square feet facility that has 775 slot
machines, a bingo hall, a keno lounge, and a card room offering daily
poker tournaments.
Entertainment is available nightly: visitors can see concerts, NFL
sports games, and win weekly Karaoke contests. There a six dining
establishments: a café, food court, buffet, saloon, deli, and an elegant
restaurant. The casino is located on Highway 87 and Fort McDowell
Road.

Proceeds
from gaming are invested in community improvements, such as education,
roads, housing, and sewage-system construction. The casino also has
made substantial donations to Arizona universities and to other
community projects and organizations.
Other Enterprises
The farm
cultivates about 2,000 acres of Tribal land. Crops include alfalfa,
pecans, and citrus. The Farm boasts a water-saving, computerized

Open since
1980, Fort McDowell Yavapai Materials provides employment for 60 to 75
people, 75 percent of whom are members of the Community. This operation
provided construction materials for residential and commercial
landscaping, the US Golf Association for development of golf courses,
and for the following projects:

Fort McDowell Adventures
is located on the east side of the Verde
River. It offers horseback and wagon trail rides at The Stables, as
well as Western theme parties, and covered, outdoor banquets at La
Puesta del Sol and the Ranch. An abundance of entertainment options, as
well as a private rodeo and jeep tours are also available.

Golf Club is a spectacular 7,225-yard 18-hole golf course nestled within
