The Fort Yuma-Quechan Reservation is home of the Quechan Indian Tribe.  It is located west of the Colorado River and lies on the borders of Arizona, California, and Mexico.  The Quechan Reservation is approximately 45,000 acres.  Agriculture, tourism, and tourist-related business largely contribute to the economic base of the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation.  Interstate 8 traverses from west to east through the Reservation carrying approximately 8 million travelers from California to Arizona, and vice-versa, each year.

The topography of the land is largely of Precambrian gneiss, anthrosites, and schists, which are the oldest rocks in the area.  Hot summers and relatively warm winter temperatures characterize the climate.  Mild winter weather attracts vacationers from November to March.
