The Yavapai-Prescott Indian Reservation is approximately 1,400 acres and is adjacent to the City of Prescott, Arizona, in central Yavapai County.  The Prescott region is characterized by deeply dissected mountain ranges leading up to the Mogollon Rim at the southern boundary of the Colorado Plateau.  Mingus Mountain (elevation 7,743 feet) is located 18 miles northeast of the Reservation on Alternate US 89.  The Reservation is topographically diverse, ranging from the relatively flat Granite Creek area to mountainous terrain north of the residential area and west of US 89. Goldwater Lake, Chino Valley Basin, and Granite and Miller Creeks provide water for the communities in the Prescott area.

In the past, mining and ranching were the major employment activities.  Today, the Reservation's economy is tied directly to the economy of the Prescott community, which focuses on tourism and retail sales and services.  As a result, the Tribe has aggressively sought developers and new businesses to build on the Reservation.  The Frontier Village shopping complex and the Tribe’s casinos are examples of recent economic development efforts.

According to the Tribe's current land-use plan, approximately 100 acres of land east of US Highway 89 and adjacent to Granite Creek, are reserved for light to medium industry, while the southeast sector of the Reservation is designated for commercial use.
