The Anasazi chose Mesa Verde as their home centuries ago, building
an elaborate culture among the canyons, an impressive remnant of
which is magnificently preserved. Visit cliff dwellings and learn
of the cultural, artistic, engineering, and farming advancements
of these prehistoric people from the Park's interpretive staff,
historian, and artifact curator. Trace the history of the Park from
discovery to the Native Americans who share this magnificent country
today. Learn about RR history, miners and cowboys of this true western
region during a full-day field trip aboard the historic Durango
to Silverton railway. Ascend nearly 3,000' as a steam engine pulls
you through some of the most dramatic terrain ever traversed by
rail.
