Getting to Northern Arizona

If you are coming to one of our Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon or Page based programs, you have options for getting from Phoenix to your program site. For planning, remember that Phoenix is 120 miles from Sedona, 150 miles from Flagstaff, and 230 miles from the Grand Canyon.

  • Car rental.  Major national rental companies often offer weekly rates which are competitive with r/t shuttle fares, especially if two or more are traveling.

It’s a beautiful, easy 2.5 hour drive, all on the interstate to Flagstaff.  The 2 hour drive to Sedona is also scenic and easy, with 105 interstate miles and 15 miles on a well traveled state highway.   From Flagstaff, it takes another 1.5 hours to travel the 80 well-paved state highway miles to Grand Canyon Village or 2 hours to reach Page (Lake Powell).

  • Airport ground shuttles from Phoenix to Flagstaff and Sedona are available through the day.   (Prices and schedules may change; call carrier for information.)

To Flagstaff from Phoenix, there are five Greyhound bus and five tour shuttle vans daily.
Greyhound – 800-231-2222, www.greyhound.com $28.50 o/w
Open Road Tours, 928-226-8060, 877-226-8060; www.openroadtours.com  $42 o/w

To Sedona from Phoenix, at least nine shuttle vans run each day.
Sedona Phoenix Shuttle, 928-282-2066, www.sedona-phoenix-shuttle.com
Ace Xpress Shuttle, 800-336-2239

To the Grand Canyon from Flagstaff
Open Road Tours, 928-226-8060, 877-226-8060, www.openroadtours.com - scheduled ground shuttles connect twice a day in Flagstaff.
Route 66 Concierge, 928-226-9964 - connects once a day leaving at 7:30am or at any time for an increased rate.

To Page (Lake Powell) from Phoenix
Great Lakes Aviation, 800-554-5111 (from Phoenix o/w) -   Approx. $89 per person, one way, when calling well in advance (at least 3-4 weeks) of the trip. http://www.greatlakesav.com  (Total travel time from Phoenix 1.5 hrs). Seems to be the best and quickest deal.

To Page (Lake Powell) from Flagstaff
Route 66 Concierge,
928-226-9964, (from Flagstaff o/w) - usually runs a morning shuttle, but can pick people up ANY TIME in Flagstaff at ANY location to take them to Page. They charge $75 per person, with a 2-person minimum. (Total travel time from Phoenix 5-6 hrs)
Grand Circle Shuttle,
928-640-0938,  (from Flagstaff o/w), - $140 for one person but considerably less if two or more people travel, approx. $80. Can pick up any time and anywhere in Flagstaff. (Total travel time from Phoenix 5-6 hrs)

  • Connecting flights to Flagstaff are available 4 times daily on America West Express, a contract carrier for America West Airlines. If you are flying into Phoenix on America West, flying into Flagstaff is as cheap as the ground shuttle by booking at least 21 days in advance.  America West Airlines, 800-235-9292, www.americawest.com .

Unfortunately, there is no scheduled air service to Sedona or the Grand Canyon from Phoenix

  • Amtrak serves Flagstaff with one westbound and one eastbound train daily through the downtown station.  Shuttles to the Grand Canyon leave from there twice daily. Taxis meet the train to connect travelers with their Flagstaff hotels. Sedona taxi service departs from Flagstaff if reserved well in advance.
    Amtrak, 800-872-7245, www.amtrak.com
    A Friendly Cab, 928-774-4444
    Sun Taxi, 928-774-7400/800-483-4488
    Arizona Taxi & Tours, 928-779-1111/800-506-1112

A few of our program locations like Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly can pretty much only be reached by private vehicle.
If you have any questions at all about how to get to any of our locations, please call us for more information, 928-523-2359.
