Opportunities in Management
The management program at NAU prepares students for careers in general management,
human resource management, and small business management. Courses emphasize leadership,
group dynamics and teamwork, analytical problem solving, and ethics. Courses prepare
students for handling change in the international business market.
Core subjects develop basic skills. Courses in the major subjects provide an in-depth
understanding of the changing business world. Group projects expand the ability to deal
effectively with others. Students learn how to bring these skills together to create
meaningful solutions to business problems.
Students also have an opportunity to gain practical experience through research and
class projects for business, government, and not-for-profit organizations. In addition,
opportunities are available to serve on cooperative education job assignments and
internships.
NAU graduates have obtained positions in a wide variety of fields and locations.
These positions have been in both service and manufacturing organizations, in large
corporations as well as small firms, and in the nonprofit sector. The NAU Career Services
office assists students in finding work opportunities consistent with their individual
interests and strengths.
The management area is committed to providing opportunities for students to spend a
summer or semester in an internship or co-op position with a business firm. Companies
and organizations which recently provided co-ops or internships for management students
