Community of Distinction

Our students, faculty, and alumni create a community of distinction in the NAU’s MBA Program.

Varun Bongu

MBA 2011 | Enterprise Systems

India
KSR College of Technology
MS Information Technology

SAP/Business Intelligence Consultant

"I've had 20 years of education and this last year has transformed me the most."

"I now know I'll be successful wherever I go, whatever I do."

"If Mr. Buffett is calling us on and on (in November, FCB students will be going for our 4th invitation), he has seen some value in the students of NAU, especially The W. A. Frank College of Business."

"Every class, I learn something; I take away something. When I looked at a problem before I came here, I'd ask myself 'How can I solve it?' but now I look at the bigger picture. I am thinking with a global perspective."

As part of his outside-the-classroom experience, Varun participated in an Executive Job Shadow with Mark C. Layton ('81 CIS), Chairman & CEO of PFSweb, Inc. in Plano, Texas.

"My convincing argument for 'Why NAU-MBA'? The way you would be a transformed soul once you step out of the doors. The way you learn here, the people you meet here, and then the opportunities you get here — I'm sure you'll excel."

Varun Bongu is an International student. His earlier education was earned in his homeland, India. He received his Masters in Information Technology in 2004. After his graduation, he worked for Fujitsu and Mercedes Benz as an SAP consultant. Varun was excited about pursuing his MBA in the U.S. and decided to move to Flagstaff because of his family ties here. He is an MBA ambassador at the graduate college and a research assistant in the College of Business. Varun is adventurous and loves to go on outdoor trips. He is excited about his skill/career development with the MBA degree and is planning to start his own business sometime in future.

Retail Processing, Team Leader

"At the end of the day, the key differentiating factor for the NAU-MBA is the faculty."

"In my opinion, the NAU-MBA faculty are a committed group of individuals that have as their primary goal your success. That's something that I sincerely believe, and I was fortunate to experience first hand."

"I think it's fashionable these days to talk about leadership and to talk about the advantages of being a really good leader. But what I got the most of out of my NAU-MBA was getting to practice in formal leadership settings where I had to be influential, and I had to inspire performance among my peers. Now that I'm in a much more structured environment, I feel I do have an advantage over my colleagues."

"I did do extensive research [before choosing NAU-MBA], including outside of the U.S. The pivitol point was when I visited the campus and there was a very sincere, very ubiquitous positive energy in everyone I interacted with from the students to the faculty members to the administrative staff. It just felt like a good fit for me."
